A Budget Safari was Worth Every Penny

Masai Mara National Reserve, Lake Nakuru National Park, Lake Naivasha National Park, Samburu National Reserve, Aberdare National Park7 Days

After visiting Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Aberdare National Park, and Lake Naivasha, we continued our Kenya safari to Samburu National Reserve. We were looking for an affordable way to experience another side of Kenya’s wilderness, and joining a budget group safari was an excellent choice for us. By joining other travelers and sharing transportation and safari activities, we were able to explore Samburu without the higher costs associated with private or luxury tours. This also gave us the opportunity to meet other travelers and share our safari experiences along the way. The real attraction for us was the wilderness itself. Samburu National Reserve is home to an impressive variety of wildlife and is particularly famous for its rare northern species. We were especially excited to look for the Samburu Special Five, which made our visit different from the wildlife experiences we had enjoyed in Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Aberdare, and Naivasha. As budget travelers, we chose simple accommodation and spent most of our time exploring the reserve on game drives. For us, the experience was more about wildlife, adventure, and discovering a different part of Kenya than luxury. Overall, our budget group safari in Samburu was a great addition to our Kenya itinerary. It was ideal for us because we wanted to prioritize wildlife experiences while keeping our accommodation and transportation costs under control.
