Chimpanzees on the Banks of Lake Tanganyika!!

Mahale Mountains National Park2 Days

I had the privilege of tracking chimpanzees in many places, but from my experience Mahale Mountains National Park is the best of all. My guided trek was not always easy, as the hilly terrain presented a real challenge, but the experienced guides and trackers provided me with excellent support throughout the journey and helped us reach our destination safely. Chimpanzees are very well habituated to human presence and go about their daily activities as if you are not even there. We were advised to maintain a distance of at least 10 meters (30 feet), but chimpanzees clearly did not get the memo; On several occasions, one even brushed against me while walking past on the narrow forest trails. From mornings were spent tracking chimpanzees, while afternoons were free for relaxing on the beach and enjoying the peaceful surroundings of Lake Tanganyika. For those who still had energy after the morning chimp trek, several activities were available, including bird walks, fishing, forest and waterfall hikes, and dhow (sailboat) trips on the lake. It was an unforgettable and truly remarkable experience I got in Mahale mountains National Park.
