From Mombasa Beaches to Lake Naivasha the Beauty was Real
Before visiting Lake Naivasha, I had already experienced some of the best attractions around Mombasa. I spent time relaxing at Diani Beach, walking through Mombasa Old Town, and enjoying the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. After experiencing the coast, I decided that my Kenyan adventure would not be complete without exploring the country's famous inland landscapes. My journey from Mombasa to Lake Naivasha was a wonderful change of scenery. As we travelled inland, the landscape became greener and more dramatic, eventually leading into the Great Rift Valley. Lake Naivasha immediately impressed me with its peaceful atmosphere. I joined a boat excursion on the lake and had the opportunity to see hippos close to the boat while observing numerous water birds. The experience was completely different from my days at the beach. I also visited Crescent Island for a guided walking safari. Walking among wildlife rather than viewing animals from a vehicle made the experience feel personal and exciting. Seeing giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and other animals while surrounded by the lake and Rift Valley landscape was one of my favourite moments.
The safari portion of the trip added another dimension to the experience. Game drives provided opportunities to photograph wildlife and enjoy the beauty of the Kenyan wilderness. After beginning my trip with beaches, history, and ocean views in Mombasa, Lake Naivasha gave me a completely different perspective of Kenya. I would definitely recommend combining the coast with a Naivasha safari for travellers who want more than just a beach holiday.
