Rongai Gate to Simba Camp
Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with a transfer from Moshi toward the Rongai Gate on the northern side of Mount Kilimanjaro. After completing park registration and entry procedures, you meet your mountain guide, support crew and fellow group members before beginning the trek. The trail gradually enters the mountain environment, with the early section passing through cultivated areas before reaching the natural forest and higher mountain vegetation. You walk at a comfortable group pace while gradually gaining altitude. Your guide monitors the group and establishes a steady rhythm for the climb. After several hours of trekking, you arrive at Simba Camp, where you settle in, enjoy dinner and rest for the night.

After breakfast, you continue from Simba Camp toward Kikelelwa Camp. The landscape becomes more open as you move away from the lower forest environment and into higher-altitude terrain. The route continues across the northern slopes of Kilimanjaro, providing views across the surrounding landscape when weather and visibility allow. You maintain a steady pace and take regular breaks according to the guide's instructions. As the altitude increases, the vegetation becomes more sparse and the mountain environment more rugged. After reaching Kikelelwa Camp, you enjoy dinner and spend the night preparing for the next stage of the climb.

Kikelelwa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Huts
After breakfast, you leave Kikelelwa Camp and continue toward Mawenzi Tarn Huts. This section takes you further into the high-altitude environment, with the impressive Mawenzi massif becoming increasingly prominent. The trail climbs gradually across alpine terrain, and the pace remains controlled to allow the group to adjust to the increasing elevation. Mawenzi is the second-highest volcanic peak of Kilimanjaro, reaching 5,149 meters. After reaching Mawenzi Tarn Huts, you have time to rest and enjoy the dramatic mountain surroundings. Dinner is served before an overnight stay at the camp.

Mawenzi Tarn Huts to Kibo Hut
After breakfast, you continue from Mawenzi Tarn Huts toward Kibo Hut. The trail crosses the high-altitude saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo, with increasingly sparse vegetation and an expansive alpine desert landscape. You continue at a slow and controlled pace as the altitude increases. The summit of Kibo becomes increasingly prominent as you approach Kibo Hut. After arrival, you have dinner and receive a detailed summit briefing from your mountain guide. You prepare your warm clothing, headlamp, water and personal equipment for the summit attempt. An early rest is important because the summit stage begins during the night.

Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate to Moshi
The final stage begins during the early hours of the morning as you leave Kibo Hut with your mountain guide for the summit attempt. The ascent is slow and controlled because of the steep terrain, cold temperatures and extreme altitude. You continue toward the upper slopes of Kibo before reaching the crater rim and proceeding toward Uhuru Peak. At 5,895 meters, Uhuru Peak is the highest point of Mount Kilimanjaro and Africa. After reaching Uhuru Peak, you have an opportunity to celebrate the achievement and take photographs, subject to weather and safety conditions. You then begin the descent toward Horombo Hut, where you take a short rest before continuing toward Marangu Gate.
